Details

Working with Nancy Goslee Power on this three-acre estate, we demonstrated how established formal gardens can evolve toward regenerative systems without sacrificing their essential character. The property's magnificent eucalyptus allée was selectively thinned rather than removed, struggling turf replaced with Carex pansa—a native bunch grass requiring no irrigation once established—and native bulbs now edge the plantings, with new species arriving each year carried by birds that hadn't visited this canyon for decades. Today the garden uses 70% less water, supports exponentially more wildlife, and requires less maintenance—all while looking more beautiful than ever.
