Named one of the world's top five gardens by Veranda Magazine, this Julia Morgan house—owned by renowned designer Paul Wiseman—is a garden we've spent over a decade refining, building on the foundation laid by Stephen Suzeman and landscape architect Todd Cole. Bold gestures define the space: massive agaves repositioned as dramatic focal points, ancient Roman busts elevated to preside over the plantings, an herb garden transformed into what appears to be archaeological ruins with an 16th-century Cotswold fountain as centerpiece. Gothic church windows serving as railings. Each year brings new relationships between plants, new self-sown combinations, new patinas on stone—the kind of depth that only comes from gardens continuously cultivated rather than designed once.
